The Royal Motor Yacht Club Broken Bay (RMYC)
has been awarded the prestigious 2011 – 2012 Marina Industries Association of Australia - Marina of the Year in the Club Marinas Category at the MIAA awards dinner held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre on 23rd June 2011.

The Award recognises excellence in the provision of marina services, facilities and operations. Applicants were assessed against a 10 point written submission and a site visit. The judging criteria covered the marinas goals and objectives, business performance, marketing, customer service; environmental and risk management; staff training, industry and community involvement and other accomplishments.

This year, a specific Club Marina awards category was created in recognition of the specific charter and functions of club marinas and the RMYC was a worthy recipient, defeating Sandringham Yacht Club (VIC) and Royal Perth Yacht Club (WA).

In accepting the award Karen Baldwin, General Manager of the Royal Motor Yacht Club (RMYC) Broken Bay NSW said "the RMYC has a large and diverse membership base with interests both in boating and social activities, not only meeting, but exceeding our members' expectations. We are extremely proud to be acknowledged by our industry peers and colleagues in receiving this award”.

At the same event, Peter Moxham, Marine Manager at the Royal Motor Yacht Club was awarded a Certified Marina Manager’s certificate by the Global Marina Institute. This international qualification recognises the highest level of professionalism in the marina industry and Peter is one of only 270 people in the world to be awarded this qualification and one of only 24 Managers in Australia.
