Welcome to the website of the Sailing Division of the Royal Motor Yacht Club, Broken Bay.

We are the yacht racing enthusiasts of the Royal Motor Yacht Club and sail throughout the year on the beautiful waterways of Pittwater and Broken Bay NSW, Australia.

The Division’s activities cater for a mixed fleet of yachts – racers, race cruisers and cruiser racers. Our comprehensive race sailing calendar has something for everyone and offers more than 100 non-spinnaker and spinnaker around-the-buoy events per season.

Our Friday Twilight races are a four race series held most Friday afternoons throughout the year. As these are "no-extras" races what better way to end the week than through sociable competition in the "Chicken Run", in which every entrant is rewarded with a frozen Number 16 chicken!

The Whitworth’s Sunday Series is a handicap sailing series held from September to April on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. The event provides family-friendly yacht racing for both novice and experienced crews. The use of spinnakers and other extra sails are permitted but not essential.

The Offshore Racing calendar caters for blue water sailors with yachts holding a current Cat 3 or Cat 4 Equipment Audit Form. The Offshore Series for Cat 3 entrants is usually 10 races a year and includes events to Newcastle, Tuggerah, and Sydney Harbour. The Barrenjoey Cup Series is over shorter distances for Cat 4 and higher entrants and includes Terrigal, Narrabeen and a Two Reefs race.

During daylight saving from October to April the famous Monday Twilight Series regularly attracts around 100 starters most afternoons. The races are "no extras" and yachts compete in allocated divisions.

A series of races including the Three Island Race and the Brooklyn Bash with Gosford, Hawkesbury River and Avalon Sailing Clubs helps promote friendship and rivalry.

A short Winter Series, Ladies Skippers’ Race, picnic and Fun Under the Sun Series provide further opportunities for friendly camaraderie.

Find out more about our Sailing Calendar here.

After a race we meet for a presentation - a pat on the back for the winners, commiserations for those not performing at their best - and plenty of free advice on how to do better next time. These get-togethers also provide a great opportunity to compare gear, servicing and repair needs.

As RMYC members we have access to all of the Club’s extensive facilities, including bars, brasserie, dining room, BBQ and swimming pool, as well as the full range of modern marina facilities.

You are welcome to join us for a sail or register as a crew member.
